Conference on draft strategy for the social reintegration and rehabilitation of prisoners

The conference will gather some 80 participants from relevant ministries and representatives of civil society and academia to discuss a draft strategy on the social reintegration and rehabilitation of prisoners. The strategy was drafted by a working group appointed by the Ministry of Justice, where the Mission played an active role by providing expertise and directly participating in the work of the group, as well as providing support.

The judiciary and prosecutors will be represented. Also, experience from France, Hungary, and UK will be presented at the conference, providing Serbian professionals with direct recommendations from more developed systems of probation and post-penal care for prisoners.

The conference is organised in the framework of the Mission's programme of support to Prison Administration to develop the system of post penal rehabilitation in Serbia, leading towards establishing an independent probation service.
