The use of gender sensitive and non-discriminatory language in public administration powerfully reflects and influences attitudes, behaviors and perceptions of different social groups. This Guide is prepared as a “reader friendly” tool, offering all relevant recommendations and guidance to better use of gender fair and inclusive language. As such, the Guide should not constrain employees in public administration, including local self-governments, and impose on them a mandatory set of rules. Rather, it should encourage them to give due consideration to the issue of gender sensitivity and non-discrimination in their daily written and spoken communications.
