Capacity building of civil society organizations

31 Civil Society Organizations and 4 networks focused on Roma integration participated in the capacity building programme. CSOs receive mentorship assistance, and support for their active participation in the development and implementation of local policies for Roma.

Mobile Teams for Roma Inclusion

Mobile Teams for Roma Inclusion have been established with the help of the project in 20 pilot municipalities / cities. The teams comprise municipal coordinators for Roma issues, pedagogical assistants, health mediators, as well as representatives of the Centres for Social Work and the National Employment Service.

A Short Story of the Bujanovac Department

A film on the development of the HCNM-supported multilingual Bujanovac Department of the Subotica Faculty of Economics of the University of Novi Sad, in Serbia. The Bujanovac Department is the first truly multilingual and multi-ethnic higher education institute in southern Serbia. The first students graduated in November 2015, which also marked the inauguration of the permanent premises of the Bujanovac Department.

School dropout prevention programme

Within dropout prevention programme, 1,000 scholarships were provided for Roma secondary school students, who also received mentoring and peer support. Training and certification of 191 pedagogical assistants were supported through the project, along with the training for 208 mentors. This Video is not available in English.

Improving housing conditions

An important part of the European Support to Roma Inclusion project is the improvement of housing conditions. Urban plans have been developed for 13 substandard settlements in 11 municipalities, and technical documentation for 15 infrastructure projects is being prepared in 14 municipalities. Based on the mapping of 583 sub-standard Roma settlements in Serbia, Geographic information system (GIS) was established to enable monitoring and improvement of Roma housing conditions.This Video is not available in English.
