Western European youth on preventing violent extremism

They have seen the toll of violent extremism on their peers and communities. They know what it is from first-hand experiences, not from the newspapers, not from policy-makers. Moad, Stefan, Sabra and Mina are among 16 youth representatives, activists, volunteers and young professionals from Western Europe, who came to the OSCE to share how young people understand and work to prevent and counter this threat.

Young experts from the Western Balkan region came together to share their experience on the prevention of violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism at a workshop convened by the OSCE Austrian Chairmanship in Sarajevo on 23-25 April 2017. Together, they formulated policy recommendations that will be presented to all the participating States and the OSCE Partners for Co-operation at the 2017 OSCE Counter-Terrorism Conference on 23 and 24 May 2017 in Vienna.
