OSCE supports crisis centres for victims of domestic violence in Kazakhstan

Domestic violence has increased worldwide during the COVID-19 pandemic. In its efforts to tackle and mitigate gender-based violence, the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan builds capacity of Crisis Centres in eight regions of Kazakhstan by providing additional premises and hiring experts to render comprehensive assistance to the persons subjected to domestic violence.

Model OSCE for Youth 2020, Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

From 20 to 23 February 2020, the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan, in co-operation with the student association “Nazarbayev University Model United Nations” organized the first Model OSCE conference for Youth, which took place at Nazarbayev University in Nur-Sultan. The participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan involving Masters and PhD students as well as young professionals took part in the conference. The conference aimed to motivate young people to become active in public and political life of their countries and to promote the role of the OSCE in Kazakhstan and in Central Asia as well.

13th OSCE Central Asian Youth Network (CAYN) seminar

The annual seminar of the OSCE-supported Central Asian Youth Network (CAYN) took place from 25 to 27 June 2019 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The topic of the seminar was "Dialogue. Data. Digital Security". The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan with support from the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. Some 35 top university students and CAYN alumni from Central Asia, Afghanistan and Mongolia participated in the event. Representatives of the OSCE, as well as experts from Afghanistan, Ukraine, the United States and Uzbekistan, specialists from the OSCE Secretariat and leading representatives of the private and non-profit sectors shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants. The discussions focused on the role of dialogue in promoting security, the use of data in governance and business as well as the future of digital security.
