16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence campaign in Tajikistan

As part of the global campaign 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe launched a nationwide awareness-raising drive targeting five remote areas. The campaign was conducted from 25 November to 10 December 2017 and covered 30 settlements. It reached 1,892,000 people across Tajikistan through TV and radio broadcasts. 1,306 people – including 915 women and 391 men- were involved directly through information sessions, theatre performances and roundtables discussions.

16 Days of activism against gender-based violence campaign reaches remote corners of Tajikistan

As part of the 16 Days of activism against gender-based violence global campaign, the OSCE Office in Tajikistan organized a nationwide awareness-raising drive in five target regions focusing on remote areas. The campaign was conducted from 25 November to 10 December 2016 and covered 42 settlements. Events included mobile theatre performances, television and radio programmes, interactive information sessions as well as thematic meetings. The campaign reached 495,700 people across Tajikistan through TV and radio programmes and 4,302 people – including 3,016 women and 1,286 men, were involved through information sessions, a theatre performance and flash mobs.

The video describes the services provided by the OSCE Office in Tajikistan-supported network of 18 Women’s Resource Centres (WRCs) throughout the country targeting victims of gender-based violence. It introduces the activities of one of the WRCs located in Khuroson district of Khatlon region as well as interviews with WRC key staff and their beneficiaries.
