The OSCE Mission to Moldova is part of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), a supervisory body for the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JKPF), established after the cessation of hostilities in Moldova in July 1992. The JCC consists of delegations of the Russian Federation, Moldova and Transdniestria. The Mission to Moldova has been taking part in the JCC since 1994 as an observer.

Ambassador Jennifer Brush was appointed Head of the OSCE Mission in April 2012. Under Ambassador Brush’s leadership, the OSCE Mission’s priorities have been creating a good environment for progress in finding a solution to the Transdniestrian conflict and promoting tolerance and understanding in Moldovan society as preconditions for a more democratic and prosperous future.

The OSCE aims to ensure that women and men have equal opportunities, and it encourages the participation of women in all spheres of Moldovan life. This training course on women, peace and security, held by the OSCE Mission and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, focused on how to create the conditions necessary to encourage women to go into security-sector careers.

The OSCE Mission to Moldova has been working with the Moldovan Ministry of Defence on ammunition-disposal projects since 2007.
