Promoting Security and Stability: OSCE assistance on small arms and light weapons

Large stocks of surplus Small Arms, Light Weapons and Conventional Ammunition remain on the territory of many countries. Their availability prolongs armed conflicts, hinders post-conflict rehabilitation and slows down economic growth. Since 2003, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe has helped its participating States in carrying out the necessary steps to solve this problem.

Tracing small arms and light weapons

Small arms and light weapons that have fallen into the wrong hands are a major cause of injury and death. The OSCE invited experts to Vienna to discuss ways to trace illegal small arms, on 23 and 24 May in Vienna.
