Photo Gallery
The OSCE Mission to Moldova provided technical and financial support to the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Moldova to destroy some 3,000 confiscated weapons.

The weapons have been melted at the temperature of 1600 degrees Celsius, Chisinau, 20 November 2013.

The recovered metal from the melted weapons cannot be reused directly because it is a mix of different metals and the factory in Chisinau is not equipped with the capacity to sort these metals, Chisinau, 20 November 2013.

“The destruction of these weapons makes Moldova a safer place,” said Ambassador Jennifer Brush, head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, praising Moldova’s willingness to fulfil its international commitments regarding the destruction of small arms and light weapons, Chisinau, 20 November 2013.

The weapons destroyed by the Moldovan police were either confiscated damaged, unusable or have undergone unauthorized alterations. Some weapons were voluntarily given in for destruction, Chisinau, 20 November 2013.
