Guidelines for enhancement of inter-institutional communication and outreach of the SALW Control Coordination Board (SALW CCB) as presented do not intend to replace communication strategies or communication plans of the institutions represented in the SALW CCB and/or law enforcement agencies in regard to this topic and their regular, planned or ad-hoc activities.

A poll implemented by the Consultant of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina on internal and external communication practices among the institutions represented in the Co-ordination Board for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons in BiH (hereinafter SALW Control Coordination Board) in April/May 2022 pointed to the lack of common monitoring and evaluation practices in place in regard to communication and outreach activities on this topic. Individual institutions represented in this body apply different methods and tools for the monitoring and evaluation of topics of their interest, whereas the most used ones are media analysis/press clipping and post-event evaluation surveys.

Tackling underlying prejudice is essential in combating the spread of these divisive actions. The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina supports the work of government institutions, the criminal justice system, local authorities and civil society to effectively respond to these incidents.
