The conference will bring together around 70 participants including the OSCE media freedom representative Harlem Désir, journalists, media policy makers, civil society representatives, media regulators and other relevant stakeholders.
Désir will give a keynote speech on 5 March on how to counter hate speech while respecting freedom of expression.
“Media Against Hate” is a Europe-wide campaign initiated by the EFJ and a coalition of civil society organisations, including the Media Diversity Institute (MDI), ARTICLE 19, the Croatian Journalists Association (CJA), Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE), Community Medien Institut (COMMIT) and Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo dei Paesi Emergenti (COSPE).
The campaign aims to counter hate speech and discrimination in the media, both offline and online, by promoting ethical standards while maintaining respect for freedom of expression.
