Participants will review typical violations while preparing and conducting public hearings on environmental matters, discuss existing challenges in ensuring public participation and come up with recommendations on how to effectively organize public discussions in line with the Aarhus Convention principles. The roundtable is a concluding event of the six-month OSCE-supported project in Pavlodar region focused on the monitoring of the environmental public hearings in the region. The OSCE-supported expert from the Pavlodar Aarhus Centre will share guidelines on how to enhance public participation and take into account their opinion in environmental decision-making.
