Model OSCE for young people across Tajikistan
16 April 2018
Thirty-five young men and women from across Tajikistan – from Dushanbe, Khujand, Buston, Danghara, Kulyab, Bokhtar and Gissar – came to Khoja Obigarm, some 50 kilometres north of Dushanbe, to take part in a four-day Model OSCE from 22 to 25 March 2018. The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
The aim of the Model OSCE was to familiarize the country’s young generation with the OSCE, its principles, mechanisms and decision-making process. They learned about the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security and developed their skills in negotiation, argumentation, public speaking and constructive dialogue. In a simulation exercise they replicated the work of the OSCE Permanent Council. During the exercise, participants engaged in the resolution of a mock crisis situation in the OSCE area, playing the roles of heads of OSCE institutions and field operations as well as delegations of the OSCE participating States.
