This is a second international seminar on enhancing control over new psychoactive substances with a focus on distribution trends, issues of legal regulations and international experience in this field.
Some 45 participants from Kazakhstan's Parliament, Presidential Administration, Security Council Secretariat, Prime-Minister’s Office, Constitutional Council and Supreme Court, Interior Ministries, Health and Social Services, agencies on countering drug trafficking from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, the United States of America and Uzbekistan will take part in discussions on the issue of countering illicit trafficking in new psychoactive substances.
The Interior Ministry will present Kazakhstan's draft law on state control over new psychoactive substances and countering their illicit turnover to receive feedback from international experts.
Representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the European Union, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, Central Asian Regional Information Coordination Center for Combating Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors.
The aim of the event is to further develop an initiative on provision of platform for representatives of CIS countries and international organizations.
The event is part of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana's activities to enhance the host country’s capacities to prevent and counter transnational organized crime with a specific focus on countering illegal trafficking in new psychoactive substances and synthetic drugs.
