Enhancing gender equality discussed in Moscow by OSCE senior official

The Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, Ambassador Miroslava Beham, is the first senior OSCE official to visit the Russian Federation to specifically discuss gender equality issues. She is paying an official visit to Moscow from 5 to 8 November 2013.
Launch of Guidance Note on Enhancing Gender-Responsive Mediation

On 24 October 2013 the OSCE Gender Section launched its new publication Guidance Note on Gender-Responsive Mediation at Sabanci University in Istanbul. The publication is a step in the enhancement of early warning and conflict prevention structures of the OSCE. It provides a practical guide for mediators engaged in formal peace negotiations on how to include women in the dialogue, as well as how to gender mainstream the mediation process.

An OSCE regional training course on gender-sensitive labour migration policies concluded on 8 October 2013 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Government officials and civil society from five OSCE participating States – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – learned how to develop and implement labour migration policies that benefit both female and male migrant workers.
