In responding to the survey, every second parent agrees that their children find it challenging to control how much time they spend in front of a screen. Parents largely believe that the time they spend accessing available content, especially through television and mobile devices, has a negative impact on their mental health and development. Content of children programs often promote gender inequality and promotes stereotypes. Almost every child surveyed owns a mobile phone. In the past 12 months, both children and parents say that they have not visited the theatre, but 36.9% of surveyed children read printed or electronic books unlike 15.5% of their parents.

On 8 December, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro published a document Handbook on media reporting on gender-based violence against women, a guide for media professionals on how to report about gender-based violence against women and girls in line with ethical principles and standards. National TV stations, newspapers, news portals and local broadcasters in Montenegro have received copies of the handbook.
OSCE Mission to Montenegro publishes second Opinion Poll on RTCG’s Brand Strength 6 months after the first one

A second opinion poll conducted in November 2022 reveals that RTCG is still the second most frequently watched TV station in Montenegro, and now perceived as more independent. In the previous survey, every fourth citizen believed that RTCG was a TV station that was under strong political influence; this perception fell from 24.9% to 8.9%. Additionally, the perception that RTCG was a TV station that "shows only one side" dropped from 16.2% to 9.3%. The perception of objectivity increased from 13.4% to 17.4% and currently ranks first. About 24 % of citizens follow RTCG on a daily basis. The majority of citizens still consider RTCG as synonym for the term ‘television’.

As part of continuous support to media professionalism, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro presented sets of mobile journalism equipment to Media Studies and Journalism Department of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Montenegro, on 28 October. A three-day training course for journalism students in November will put the donation in use.

PODGORICA, 27 October 2022- Independent, diverse and quality public-interest journalism and widespread media-literacy are the best antidote to disinformation. These were some of the conclusions from a regional conference on Media and Digital Literacy and Disinformation, held by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro and the Agency of Electronic Media today.
