TOKYO, 15 May 2023 – OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid concluded a visit to Japan, where she met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi and other officials and also took part in the Munich Security Conference Leaders’ Meeting hosted by Japan ahead of the G7 Summit.

On 22 July 2022, an OSCE Asian Partners for Co-operation Group discussion was held in Vienna on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of co-operation between the OSCE and Japan. Japan was the first Asian country to be invited to a CSCE meeting in 1992.

VIENNA, 15 June 2022 – Participants at the 2022 OSCE Asian Conference discussed synergies and opportunities for co-operation with a particular focus on the role of women in building confidence, peace and security, on climate‑related challenges to security and on the role of civil society today. Hosted by Sweden, the 2022 OSCE Asian Partners for Co-operation Group Chair, the conference was held both online and in person from Vienna.

VIENNA, 3 June 2022 – Following-up on discussions held at the Stockholm Ministerial Council, participants at today’s special OSCE Asian Partners for Co-operation Group discussion looked into several aspects of a framework for a response to the implications of Afghanistan for the OSCE region. The meeting was convened by the Swedish Chair of the Group. It particularly highlighted gender-related aspects of the regional consequences of developments in Afghanistan, and how the situation in Afghanistan has affected young women and men in Central Asia.
