European Union and OSCE support the start of construction works at Tajikistan’s Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Training Centre

High-level representatives from Tajikistan’s Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CoESCD), the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe and the European Union Delegation to Tajikistan participated in the official start of renovation work on the CoESCD Training Centre on 19 January 2021 in Karatag, Shahrinav district. The renovation will turn the CoESCD Training Centre into a facility providing training where the Committee will be able to strengthen the capacity of responders on how to react to natural disasters in border regions.
The fourth BSMSL course: Completion of module one

Twenty-seven officers and managers from different border security and law enforcement agencies from OSCE’s participating States completed the first module of the one-year Border Security and Management for Senior Leadership course (BSMSL) on 11 December 2020. Due to the COVID-29 pandemic and the travel restrictions, the traditional face-to-face phase of the first module was held via video teleconferencing.

OSCE Programme Office donates thermal cameras to Tajik Border Troops

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe donated thermal cameras (CCTV cameras) to the Tajik Border Troops on 4 August 2020 in Dushanbe. The donated equipment will increase the technical capacity of the Tajik Border Troops to better detect and seize illicit items at the Tajik-Afghan green border and prevent illegal cross-border movements.
OSCE Programme Office launches EU-funded project on Green Border Protection and Emergency Response

On 1 January 2020, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe launched a EUR 3.3 million project on the “Stabilization of Tajikistan’s southern border region with Afghanistan”, funded within the framework of the European Union’s Foreign Policy Instrument. The 18-month project aims to increase the professional capability of the Tajik and Afghan Border Services in order to better tackle illicit activities in border areas.
