An OSCE Central Asian regional conference on strengthening law enforcement co-operation in combating trafficking in human beings, co-organized by the Programme Office in Dushanbe and the Programme Office in Astana, in co-operation with the Office of the OSCE Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, was held on 4 and 5 October 2022 in Astana.

An OSCE-supported series of seminars on the identification of victims of human trafficking and the investigation of criminal cases related to human trafficking was held in West Kazakhstan, Mangistau and Atyrau provinces from 15 to 22 February.

A roundtable discussion on forced begging and labor exploitation in the Central Asian context concluded on 28 January 2022. The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan organized the online event in partnership with the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

An OSCE-organized week-long simulation exercise on combating human trafficking along migration routes, hosted by the Almaty Police Academy under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, started on 11 October 2021 in Almaty.

An OSCE-supported training seminar on methodology for the supervision and support of public prosecution in criminal cases related to trafficking in human beings concluded on 30 June 2021 in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan. Some 16, prosecutors of the Akmola region, including 11 men and 5 women, participated in the two-day event. The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan, in co-operation with the Law Enforcement Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office, organized the seminar.

Strengthening organizational mechanisms and promoting co-operation in addressing labour exploitation in Kazakhstan and other OSCE participating States was the focus of an online international roundtable discussion, which concluded on 29 January 2021.
