Ombudsperson offices have been playing a critical role in enforcing a better respect of human rights, international conventions and democratic values in the region, their landmark being the trust of citizens. This was one of the conclusions of a regional conference organized on the occasion of 20 years of existence of the institution of the Montenegrin Ombudsman, with the support of the OSCE Mission.

On 16 December, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro provided support to Women’s Safe House and SOS Podgorica, NGOs that operate shelters for victims of domestic violence. Support to Women’s Safe House will enable it to develop a register of violence cases while support to SOS Podgorica, which includes surveillance equipment, will provide additional security to its residents.
OSCE Mission to Montenegro partners with Association of Youth with Disabilities to raise awareness on voting rights for people with disabilities

Working with the Association of Youth with Disabilities, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro launched a campaign to inform over 1,000 persons people deprived of their legal right to vote in elections.

OSCE Mission to Montenegro working to support improving accessibility of elections for people with disabilities

On 4 July 2022, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro facilitated a discussion between the State Election Commission, the Union of the Blind and municipal electoral commissions on how to ensure that people with disabilities can exercise their right to vote in secret in the upcoming municipal elections on 23 October.

On 15 June 2022, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro supported the NGO SOS Helpline Nikšić, a shelter for women and children survivors of domestic and gender-based violence, by assisting them in extending their facility licenses, as well as donated bedroom, dining and living room furniture to improve the living conditions of survivors of violence.
