International election observers in Turkey to hold press conference on Monday
ANKARA, 8 August 2014 – The international observers monitoring the presidential elections in Turkey will present their preliminary post-election statement at a news conference on Monday, 11 August, in Ankara.
The international observation mission is a common endeavour involving the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA).
The statement will be delivered by Meritxell Mateu Pi, Head of the PACE Delegation, followed by Vilija Aleknaitė-Abramikienė, Special Co-ordinator appointed to lead the Short-Term OSCE Observer Mission, Åsa Lindestam, Head of the OSCE PA Delegation, and Ambassador Geert-Hinrich Ahrens, Head of the OSCE/ODIHR Limited Election Observation Mission.
This common endeavour comprises some 103 observers from 33 countries, including 44 long-term observers and experts from the OSCE/ODIHR, 31 parliamentarians and staff from PACE and 28 parliamentarians and staff from the OSCE PA.
