ODIHR's Tolerance and Non-Discrimination Department is organizing a roundtable meeting with representatives of the Polish Ministry of Interior, police officials, border-guard and immigration officers, and members of the African community in Poland. The purpose of the meeting is to facilitate communication between these groups and explore areas for potential future outreach collaboration.
This meeting is part of a series of recommendations from the ODIHR-organized Roundtable discussion on the Contemporary Forms of Racism and Xenophobia Affecting People of African Descent in the OSCE Region, convened during the Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting (SHDM) on The Prevention of Racism, Xenophobia, and Hate Crimes through Educational and Awareness-Raising Initiatives in November 2011.
The meeting is part of ODIHR's effort to build the capacity of representatives and people of African descent in the region to respond more adequately to hate crimes and hate incidents as well as foster better working relationships between them and the various government agencies involved in these issues.
