A peer-to-peer meeting of judges from the ICTY and South-Eastern Europe will be held in Zagreb, organized by the EU-funded and ODIHR-led War Crimes Justice Project. Judge Fausto Pocar and Judge Carmel A. Agius from the ICTY will join the judges from the region in sharing experiences in adjudicating war-crimes cases.
Other speakers will include Judge Ana Garačić, Vice-President of the Supreme Court and President of the Criminal Department; Paolo Berizzi, Head of the Political, Economic, Trade and Press & Information Section of the EU Delegation to Croatia; and Douglas Wake, First Deputy Director of ODHIR.
The War Crimes Justice Project is a 4 million-euro regional project funded by the European Union and carried out by the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, in partnership with the ICTY, the UN Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, and OSCE field operations. The aim of the project is to enhance the capacity of legal professionals in the region to handle complex war-crimes cases.
