As part of its mandate to support the implementation of gender equality principles in activities related to Roma and Sinti, ODIHR is organizing a consultation meeting with Roma and Sinti women, experts and civil society representatives from the OSCE region in Warsaw on 23 and 24 November 2022.
The meeting will provide space to discuss the current situation of Roma and Sinti women in view of gender equality and women’s issues. This includes mapping out specific challenges Roma and Sinti women face on their way towards full participation in all areas of public and political life, as well as their needs related to empowerment and capacity building. The meeting will also inform participants about ODIHR’s ongoing work related to gender equality, including on policies, institutions, women’s participation in politics and electoral processes, gender-based violence, trafficking in human beings and other relevant areas.
Recognizing the multiple forms of discrimination affecting Roma and Sinti women in the OSCE area, ODIHR is specifically tasked with preventing, promoting and implementing the principles of gender equality and combating discrimination and inequalities that limit the enjoyment of fundamental rights by Roma and Sinti women.
The event is open only for the invited participants.
