Combating human trafficking and all forms of sexual exploitation will be the focus of an online conference ODIHR is co-organizing on 24 and 25 June 2021. Following an analysis of the impact of existing policies in Germany, this conference will focus on reexamining the German legal and policy approaches to combating trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and its interlinkage with prostitution, including from the perspective of gender equality.
Issues on the agenda
The conference will take place over two days. The first day will highlight international and German perspectives on long-term solutions to combatting human trafficking and all forms of sexual exploitation. Participants will reflect on the current challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The second day will focus on civil society’s innovative ways to support victims and survivors, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and on promising international and German practices in combatting organized crime in the context of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The conference will facilitate the exchange of views among government representatives (including policymakers and criminal justice actors), participants from civil society, academics and survivor leaders. It will produce a set of recommendations with a focus on four main areas:
-
long-term and sustainable policy solutions;
-
strengthening national legal frameworks;
-
innovative civil society approaches addressing emerging trends;
-
