When

Organized by
A day after the 8 April International Roma Day, ODIHR's Contact Point for Roma and Sinti Issues will organize a discussion with various Roma and Sinti representatives about their experiences and views on strengthening Roma civic movements. Participants will also discuss the importance of participation and representation of Roma and Sinti in public and political life.
Speakers
The guest speakers will reflect on the past and present situation of Roma movements. They will discuss the requirements and present solutions, including for political parties to promote representation of Roma and Sinti in public life.
Background
The participation of Roma in national and local decision-making processes is one of the priorities identified by the OSCE Action Plan on Improving the situation of Roma and Sinti (OSCE Action Plan), subsequently prioritized within the Ministerial Council decisions 6/08 and the 4/13. The representation of Roma and Sinti people in elected and appointed office at all levels of government represents the core of participation. To reflect this principle, the adequate representation of Roma and Sinti in political parties’ membership is both a pre-requisite and an opportunity.
Registration
The meeting is free to join but participants must reserve a place. Those interested are invited to register by Thursday, 8 April at 12:00 CET here:
