Women remain underrepresented in political life despite the positive developments noticeable over the last three decades. This imbalance can be found in national parliaments and governments but also in local bodies of self-government, all around the OSCE region.
In order to counter this trend and promote inclusive policy making, ODIHR and international partners are teaming up with the National Commission for Women Affairs to offer a cross-party seven-day online training for women politicians and leaders from Kazakhstan.
Objectives
During this event, international and national experts will share their experience with the national participants. The aim is to help them develop skills in fields such as:
- leadership
- strategic planning
- effective communications and public speaking
- international and national gender equality standards and frameworks
The organizers will combine innovative and participatory training methods to deliver a four-day online course followed by individual coaching sessions. In this way, they will customize the training to the individual needs of the participants.
The training will be held in Russian.
Why is it important
Research conducted with women and men politicians has identified different gender barriers related to political participation. This translates into different trainings needs for aspiring female leaders. ODIHR trainings are tailored to this reality so as to contribute to the further development of female participants.
The ultimate aim is to help them reach active and meaningful participation in political parties, parliaments and executive structures.
