Kyrgyzstan: Women’s Leadership in Politics

The eight-day online course on “Women’s Leadership in Politics” is designed to help aspiring women politicians gain knowledge and skills useful for participating in local politics and decision-making in Kyrgyzstan.
Participants will be able to:
- learn about OSCE commitments in the area of women’s political participation
- explore existing challenges and opportunities
- learn the art of politics
- develop practical leadership, communication, campaigning and public speaking skills for politics
Participants
The course will gather up to 30 women from different regions of Kyrgyzstan, interested in local politics and considering or willing to run for local council elections in Kyrgyzstan. This includes those already active in politics or civil society. The course sessions will combine pre-recorded video lectures, online discussions and practical exercises. It is tailored so as to enable participants to attend while carrying out their professional and private tasks.
Context
The course is organized within the framework of ODIHR’s efforts to promote women’s political participation in the OSCE region. It is also line with ODIHR’s mandate as described in the 2004 OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality.
