The main goals of the visit are:
- to assess how ODIHR electoral recommendations have been implemented;
- to discuss possible initiatives to address the outstanding recommendations.
To that end, ODIHR plans to meet with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Electoral Commission, the Collegium of the House of Peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange, the Inter-Agency Working Group on Election Law, the Communications Regulatory Agency, the Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Radio and Television of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Radio and Television of Republika Srpska. The experts also plan to meet with representatives of civil society organizations and the international community, including the delegation of the European Union.
ODIHR will share with key official electoral stakeholders the conclusions of the visit and highlight additional steps that should be considered ahead of future elections.
The visit will be the second of six – one to each of the beneficiaries of ODIHR’s Support to Elections in the Western Balkans project – to be carried out during the second phase of the three-year project. The project is funded by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency.
