The CASM Programme by the end of 2017
Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic, Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre Marcel Pesko and UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia and Director of UNDP Irena Vojackova-Sollorano signed today the Appendix to the Capacity Development Programme for Conventional Ammunition Stockpile Management for the Republic of Serbia (CASM). With the aforementioned document, the CASM Programme will be extended by two additional years, i.e., by the end of 2017.
Defence Minister thanked for the assistance of OSCE participating states and other international organizations whose financial donations have enabled the implementation of the CASM
Programme in previous years.
"The tremendous operational experience, technical and managerial knowledge of the development and management of similar projects of our partners in the OSCE and the UN have been of crucial importance for this project to be realized and reach the threshold of its fifth anniversary," Gasic said.
The CASM Programme was established in 2011 in order to assist in increasing the safety and security of storage of conventional ammunition, improvement of infrastructure facilities for the demilitarization at the Technical Overhaul Institute Kragujevac, and demilitarization of surplus special ammunition. The framework for the implementation of the CASM Programme is the Programme Document between the OSCE, UNDP and the Ministry of Defence.
