With the support of the San Marino Government, the OSCE Mission is continuing to assist Montenegro's institutions in combating corruption through fulfilling the commitments stipulated in the "National Action Plan for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime" and the international obligations accepted by Montenegro.
As part of the "OSCE Anti-corruption Initiative in Montenegro", the San Marino Government is supporting the capacity building of the Ministry of Interior and Public Administration and the Police Directorate by financing a seminar for 12 police representatives of the Departments of Economic Crime and Police Internal Oversight in the early detection of corruption cases. Under the Initiative, the capacity building efforts included a working visit by two traffic police commanders to the Swedish traffic police in June 2010. This provided knowledge of new technologies used for recording corruption, as well as funds for the purchase of IT and other specialized equipment for the Police Internal Oversight Department, and contributed to progress in in-service control toward identifying corruption, as well as improving work conditions.
Waldemar Figaj, Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission and Programme Coordinator, and Veselin Saranovic, Head of the Police Internal Oversight Department, will take part in the ceremony.
