Organized by
OSCE Mission to Montenegro in co-operation with the Council of Europe, the Venice Commission and the Constitutional Court of Montenegro
This conference, aimed at judges and advisers of the Constitutional Court of Montenegro, will look at the experience of constitutional courts with regard to the conformity of the law with ratified international treaties.
The new Montenegrin Constitution entrusts the Constitutional Court with wide and significant competencies such as deciding upon the conformity of law with ratified international treaties, which has not previously been a part of the legal system of Montenegro.
The purpose of this roundtable is to support the Court in dealing with this new competency. Representatives of Constitutional Courts of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Croatia and Slovenia will present their experiences in dealing with the conformity of law with ratified international treaties. The event will cover issues such as relevant case-law, theory and legal solutions.
