Following the adoption of the Kyiv Recommendations on Judicial Independence in Southern and Eastern Europe and Central Asia in 2010, the OSCE Mission to Moldova, in co-operation with the OSCE/ODIHR and Moldova’s Superior Council of Magistrates, organized a series of roundtable meetings to discuss measures contained in the recommendations, focusing on the selection criteria and appointment procedures for judges, performance evaluation of judges and disciplinary proceedings against judges.
These meetings resulted in a set of recommendations that were adopted by the participants: judges, members of judicial councils, law professors and representatives of the Justice Ministry and parliamentary administration .
This workshop, which is a follow-up to those meetings, is aimed at providing further support for the implementation of Moldova’s Strategy for the Reform of the Justice Sector, and also providing a forum to discuss best practices in the OSCE region and to assist national authorities in drafting relevant regulations.
