Regional Workshop on the OSCE Best Practice Guide on Deactivation of Small Arms and Light Weapons will be held on 29 and 30 October in Podgorica, starting at 09:30 AM.
The Workshop, organized by the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center, OSCE Mission to Montenegro, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence, will be opened by Head of the OSCE Mission in Montenegro, Ambassador Maryse Daviet, State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Dragan Pejanović, representative of the German Federal Foreign Office Hannah Dönges and representative of the Conflict Prevention Center in the OSCE Robin Mossinkoff.
The objective of the regional workshop is to support the OSCE participating States in applying the Small Arms and Light Weapons deactivation standards, approaches and procedures in their efforts combating the diversion and the illicit transfers of Small Arms and Light Weapons.
Also, the workshop has a direct support to the Franco-German joint initiative to implement the Roadmap and the National Action Plans on illicit firearms trafficking and comprehensive SALW control in the Western Balkans.
