Annual Judicial Conference in Kosovo

Over 250 Kosovo judges will attend a one-day judicial conference on challenges in the implementation of a new legislative framework governing the work of judiciary.

The participants will discuss judicial independence, as well as challenges faced by the courts in administering justice and ways to overcome them.

Restructuring of judiciary in Kosovo began following the completion of judges vetting and reappointment process in 2010 and new legislation on courts in Kosovo, which partially entered into force in January 2011, while the majority of provisions will enter into force in January 2013.

The conference will provide judges with an opportunity to provide their input into the process.
