The OSCE Mission and the Kosovo police have developed and published a safety handbook for schoolchildren in Albanian, Serbian and Turkish.
This handbook is a practical tool for children, parents and teachers, and aims at helping raise their awareness about the safety issues ranging from interaction with strangers to traffic safety, and the use of the Internet.
It will be publicly presented and the first copies distributed at the Kosovo police headquarters, and Faik Konica primary school in Prishtinë/Priština on 19 October 2011. In addition to publishing the handbook, the OSCE Mission will also support the Kosovo police and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in delivering personal safety lectures in primary schools throughout Kosovo. These lectures will address safety issues identified in an earlier assessment exercise.
