Intelligence-led policing in Kosovo

The OSCE Mission is helping police in Kosovo to adopt and implement the intelligence-led policing concept – using criminal intelligence for a strategic, future-oriented and targeted approach to crime prevention.
The roundtable meeting will be used to review the progress achieved in implementing the intelligence-led policing concept over the last nine months, as well as to build further understanding among the senior staff of the Kosovo police on how the concept can be applied to community policing activities.
In the past, criminal intelligence was used to support reactive investigations and criminal prosecution. With the introduction of intelligence-led policing, intelligence should also be used to identify emerging crime areas, target the right offenders in investigations and improve the allocation of police resources.
The implementation of the project is supported by EULEX and the European Commission Liaison Office.
