HCNM-sponsored meeting to focus on textbooks and curriculum for minority schools in Central Asia
When
Where
It will focus on how to produce a multicultural textbook and make room in the school curriculum for the teaching of the history and traditions of the various national minorities living within the borders of Central Asian countries.
The states will also discuss how to help each other in developing the textbook and curriculum, and will exchange opinions on practical follow-up initiatives. The meeting will include educational professionals and national minority leaders from across Central Asia and is a part of the "Inter-state Dialogue on Social Integration and National Minority Education" initiative launched by the Central Asian states in November 2006 in Tashkent.
The process aims at promoting inter-state co-operation and mutual assistance in the field of education in order to further improve teaching standards in the region's minority-language schools, to foster the integration of minority-language students in their home countries, and to promote good neighbourly relations among Central Asian countries.
