Researcher-in-Residence programme

The Researcher-in-Residence programme has been hosted in the Documentation Centre in Prague since 1998. It provides students, academics and other professionals with access to the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (CSCE) and the OSCE’s rich archival collections.
Researchers have access to the CSCE/OSCE historical archives, library and reference catalogue. In addition researchers participating in the programme are provided with work station connected to the digital archive collections, finding tools and databases. These search tools enable researchers to identify and locate documents of interest. The Documentation Centre’s archives staff are on hand to advise and assist with access to the material.
The research outcome should preferably be in one of the six official languages of the OSCE. Researchers are asked to provide the Documentation Centre with their finished work for deposit in the library.
The length of stay in Prague is envisaged as being from two to three months, although this period is flexible, depending on the nature of the research.
Please note that while use of the Documentation Centre’s facilities is free, accommodation, transport, visas and other associated costs must be paid for by researchers themselves.
