Training for citizen patrols in Osh and Jalal-Abad provinces

Approximately 300 voluntary citizen patrols in the southern provinces of Osh and Jalal-Abad will be given training in conflict prevention, first aid and the maintenance of public order.
The training sessions will focus on conflict prevention activities such as peaceful negotiation with demonstrators and facilitating mediation between conflicting sides. The volunteers will be given practical information on how to work with police and understanding relevant legislation.
Trained citizen patrols will help police maintain public order through joint patrols, particularly during the upcoming parliamentary elections.
