Having witnessed scenes of brutality, seen their compatriots becoming victims of violence and, importantly, having received no support - only criticism - from civil society, the Kyrgyz police have been demoralized to a significant extent.
In response to these issues, the OSCE Centre in Bishkek is supporting training sessions on 21-22 and 28-29 July 2010, which are expected to impart knowledge and skills to patrol service officers who were deployed to the hot spots on conducting self-assessment of one's psychological morale, on self-management in crisis and stressful situations and on smooth transition from a post-crisis condition.
It is expected that these activities will help the police regain self-confidence and return to normal fulfilment of their duties.
