OSCE organizes an international conference on police reform

A two-day international conference “Development of the Police System of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Context of Security Sector Reform” will be conducted 22-23 September 2016 in Bishkek.
In co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Defence Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the OSCE Secretariat (Strategic Police Matters Unit), the OSCE Centre in Bishkek is organizing this event to support the Kyrgyz Republic in upholding widespread police reform.
The conference is aimed to bring together over 100 delegates representing national stakeholders, civil society and international experts from Russia, Georgia, Tajikistan, Lithuania, Estonia and Hungary to discuss the best international practices of OSCE participating States related to the enhanced role of law enforcement agencies, in the wider framework of security sector reform.
The conference will also feature a special round-table session to be organized on the 24 September to discuss potential challenges and solutions to police reform and law enforcement training, in line with the recent presidential decree on security sector reform in the Kyrgyz Republic.
