Simulation Exercise “Barrier-2015”

The OSCE Centre in Bishkek supports two-day simulation exercises “Barrier - 2015”. It is organized in co-operation with the Kyrgyz State Border Service and General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic with participation of Tajik Border troops, and experts of Operative Border Group of FSB of Russia in the Kyrgyz Republic to improve inter-agency co-ordination between special units of the Kyrgyz anti-terrorism agencies and to develop co-ordination mechanisms to manage crisis situation at the borders.
Simulation exercises will be held in two stages:
- On 22nd July a Command Staff Post exercise called “Bogot-Barrier 2015” will be held in the office of the Kyrgyz State Border Service. The Border Service Headquarters will be connected with its Batken unit via video-conference and showcased the units’ readiness to co-ordinate border management in the second stage of the exercise. The showcase followed by the roundtable “Border security and interaction system of the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies”.
- On 24th of July, the units of Kyrgyz State Border Service, General Staff and Law enforcement agencies, General Staff will meet at Batken Border detachment’s polygon to work out the scenario of liquidation of terrorist inclusion and mass border crossing of local residents during crisis situation at the border area.
Simulation exercise is organized as part of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek projects "Enhancing the ability of the Kyrgyz Government to engage in regional cooperation in border security and management” and “Strengthening capacity of Kyrgyz anti-terrorism agencies to deal with the threat of terrorism and strengthening related national capabilities in arms control”.
