Discussion on sustainable development in Kyrgyz regions

Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and the OSCE Centre in Bishkek hold a one-day workshop for some 60 representatives from Talas and Issyk–Kul provinces, district administrators and the Ministry officials to discuss strategic planning for sustainable development at the local level.
This workshop is the first in a series of events which are part of the OSCE supported project “Improving conditions for sustainable development in the Kyrgyz Republic” in Talas and Issyk–Kul provinces. The project is initiated by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and implemented by the Ecological movement “BIOM”.
The purpose of the discussion is to implement the National Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2017, and to identify opportunities across the country to develop a local economic development agenda, taking into account environmental and social factors.
Members of Talas and Issyk-Kul administrations involved in strategic planning processes on the ground will be trained on building methods of sustainable development and drafting strategies for the transition of indicated regions to sustainable development until 2017.
