OSCE-supported competition on data journalism in BiH concludes
Two winning articles of a competition on data journalism focused on promoting gender equality were published on 1 October 2013. The competition was organized by the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina in partnership with Mediacentar Sarajevo, a local journalism training provider.
The article ‘Women in Politics – Value or Decoration?’ written by a team of civil society activists from Olovo, Zavidovići and Tomislavgrad was announced as the top story. As a reward, the Mission will fund the launch of websites for each of their respective non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Second place went to a team of activists from women’s NGOs from Prijedor, Brčko and Sarajevo for their article ‘To be born with discrimination’. The top two articles have been published and promoted via www.diskriminacija.ba, www.zenskaposla.ba and www.facebook.com/oscebih.
The competition was part of a training series focused on promoting gender equality and grass-roots activism via evidence-based advocacy, web-based applications, mapping tools and info-graphics.
The Mission will continue to support efforts to develop the capacity of civil society activists to conduct evidence based advocacy campaigns as means to improve the accountability of institutions and to bring citizens together around common issues.
