OSCE co-organizes expert roundtable on state financing of media

The OSCE Programme Office in Astana in co-operation with the Soros Foundation Kazakhstan and the Legal Media Centre NGO will support a roundtable discussion on state financing of media. Some 30 parliamentarians, officials, media experts and journalists will discuss the ways to improve the system of state procurement and mechanisms to ensure efficient monitoring and evaluation of projects supported through government funding.
International experts Tarmu Tammerk, ombudsman at the Estonian Public Broadcasting Company (Estonia) and Vladimir Kavalkin, expert on the public service reform (Belarus) will share their countries’ experience on the matter.
The event is in line with the Office’s activities aimed at promoting media freedom and freedom of expression in line with the OSCE principles and commitments.
