OSCE co-organizes training on law-enforcement and media relations

The OSCE Programme Office in Astana will support a five-day training seminar for some 25 press officers and prosecutors from all regions of Kazakhstan and the Prosecutor General’s Office. Participants will discuss enhancing communication between law enforcement agencies and media, the peculiarities of the law-enforcement press services outreach and ways to promote open channels of communication based on particular cases from a journalistic perspective. Participants will learn how to professionally report on sensitive and timely cases, such as terrorist attacks; prepare for public interviews and press conferences, deal with the possible fear of public presentations and methods to handle conflict situations.
The event will include information on the use of new media tools and social networks, as well as a practical exercise on proper drafting of press releases and press briefings as well as interviewing with the use of video shooting.
The event is part of the OSCE Programme Office’s long-standing efforts to enhance co-operation between the law-enforcement agencies and media.
