Some 30 representatives of Astana internal police departments and Expo 2017 security department representatives will participate in a three-day seminar to learn about best practices on maintaining public order during large public events. The training seminar is especially relevant for Kazakhstan in light of the upcoming EXPO-2017 and 2017 World Winter Universiade, during which the country expects to host a combined millions of international visitors.
Participants will discuss international standards in the management of resources utilised to provide security during long-lasting public events, ensuring security at terrorism-vulnerable sites, including the prevention of unlawful acts involving the use of explosive devices, access control points, the use of profiling techniques, vehicle search at venues of large public events, rules of conduct in emergency situations and citizen evacuation arrangements. The practical exercise will be organized at the 2017 World Winter Universiade site.
The seminar will be led by international experts from the Dutch Police Academy and is organized with financial support from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
The event is part of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana's activities to enhance security, increase accountability, and promote law enforcement personnel and the public’s knowledge and rights through politico-military co-operation.
