Roundtable on countering and preventing terrorism

Some 40 parliamentarians, high-level representatives of the National Security Committee, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Supreme Court, Ministries of the Interior, Justice, Education and Science, international and national experts, and academics will participate in an one-day roundtable meeting on legislative and institutional measures of preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism.
Participants will analyze the factors underlying violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism and the ways to effectively address this threat. They will discuss amendments to the Draft Law on Introducing Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Countering Extremism and Terrorism. The expert from Russian Federation will give a presentation on the legislation of the Russian Federation on countering extremism and terrorism and prevention measures for youth.
The event is part of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana's activities to enhance security, increase accountability, and assist the host country in its efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism.
