An annual training seminar on the water governance and interrelated climate change implications issues for the young governmental specialists is organized by the Office in close partnership with the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Kazakhstan and Germany, the German-Kazakh University with the support of the United Nations Environmental Programme, the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia and the GIZ.
The event will bring together some 25 young diplomats from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to promote better water co-operation through an exchange of knowledge and experience on the integrated water resources management principles. Special attention will be given to climate implications for the Central Asian region and Afghanistan with a view on innovative solutions for addressing local, national and regional water governance challenges.
The seminar is part of the Office’s long-standing efforts to promote regional co-operation in water resources management and is in line with the OSCE priority of fostering the increased participation of youth in decision-making processes.
